Study Suggests Attending Religious Services Significantly Lowers Risk Of Death

Since state governments in the US and other industrialized countries like to regulate everything related to public health such as trans fats, smoking tobacco, fatty fast foods, alcohol and many other things—we have to wonder if they will mandate attendance at religious services since it appears to improve health or at least reduce mortality rates.

In a new study published by scientists from Yeshiva University and its medical school, Albert Einstein College of Medicine regular attendance at religious services was examined.

Previous studies have suggested that religiosity may be related to the risk of dying. The current investigation, involved 92,395 Women’s Health Initiative Observational Study participants–the findings suggest that regularly attending religious services lowers the risk of dying by as much as a 20 percent.
